DESCRIPTION:UT San Antonio will be hosting the Actors From the London Stage’s Performance of Much Ado About Nothing on September 30\, October 2\, and October 3 in 2026 at 7:30 PM.  \nCount Claudio falls in love with Hero\, the daughter of his host. Hero’s cousin Beatrice (a confirmed spinster) and Benedict (an eternal bachelor) are each duped into believing the other is in love with them. Claudio is deceived by a malicious plot and denounces Hero as unchaste before they marry. She faints and is believed dead\, but recovers to be proved innocent by a chance discovery. Benedict wins Beatrice’s love defending her cousin’s honour\, and to his surprise\, Claudio is reunited with Hero\, who he believed dead.

SUMMARY:Brass Classics & Bold New Sounds with Boston Brass
DESCRIPTION:José Sibaja\, trumpet \nJeff Conner\, trumpet \nChris Castellanos\, horn \nDomingo Pagliuca\, trombone \nWilliam Russell\, tuba \n  \nSince 1986 Boston Brass has set out to establish a one-of-a-kind musical experience featuring colorful classical arrangements\, burning jazz standards\, and the best of original brass repertoire. Boston Brass treats audiences to a unique brand of musical entertainment that bridges the ocean of classical formality\, delighting regular concertgoers and newcomers alike with great music and boisterous fun in performances across all 50 U.S. states and over 30 countries to date. \nMusic education is at the core of Boston Brass’s identity and the quintet conducts sessions around the world in the form of masterclasses\, residencies and collaborations\, everywhere from your local schools to major music conservatories. The quintet has longstanding relationships at many institutions\, most notably Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Singapore and North Dakota State University\, both schools having named Boston Brass “Visiting Ensemble in Residence” starting in 2024. Boston Brass is also proud to be a member of the International Artistic Advisory Council to the College of Music at Mahidol University in Bangkok\, and in 2023 the group was inducted into the prestigious American Bandmasters Association as associate members. \nThe quintet’s newest album Blues for Sam features a mix of classical and jazz arrangements alongside old favorites and is dedicated to the late Sam Pilafian who can also be heard on Simple Gifts (2018)\, Reminiscing (2016)\, and Rewired (2015). Newly released in 2023 is the album Joe’s Tango\, which introduces our world premiere of Jorge Machain’s Five Cities Concerto alongside the UNLV Wind Orchestra. Other ongoing Boston Brass projects include performances of Gordon Goodwin’s composition Perplexing Times\, and premiere performances of Arturo Sandoval’s wind dectet written especially for Boston Brass and Imani Winds. \n  \nBoston Brass is a Yamaha Performing Group and performs exclusively on Yamaha instruments. Boston Brass is Visiting Ensemble in Residence at Yong Siew Toh Conservatory at the National University of Singapore\, and the Challey School of Music at North Dakota State University. \n

SUMMARY:An Evening with Jonathan Scales Fourchestra
DESCRIPTION:You’ve heard this before\, but the whimsically named Jonathan Scales Fourchestra is really tough to describe. Veering from in-your-face\, jaw dropping chops and passion\, to those quiet moments when the background noise disappears and you hold your breath to take in a\nsoundscape of solitude\, the power trio of electric bass (E’Lon JD)\, drums (Maison Guidry)\, and steel pans (Jonathan Scales) combines elements of jazz\, classical\, and progressive rock\,peppered with LaLn rhythms and soulful outbursts of funk. From club and fesLval stages across\nNorth America and Europe\, and tours of Africa\, Southeast and Central Asia as a Cultural Ambassador for the US Department of State\, to their NPR Tiny Desk Concert featuring Béla Fleck\, the Fourchestra’s live shows make even the most jaded listeners forget where they are…\neven if just for a precious moment. \nThis may seem an odd thing to say\, but on the verge of releasing their eighth studio recording\, Jonathan Scales Fourchestra is only now truly embracing their idenLty as a group. For many years\, Jonathan’s live band was a fluid lineup of top-notch musicians\, and even included an “all-\nstar” version with bassist MonoNeon (Prince\, Nas)\, drummer Sput Searight (Snarky Puppy\, \nSnoop Dogg) and percussionist Weedie Braimah (Trombone Shorty\, ChrisLan Sco[ aTunde Adjuah)\, as well as a number of other marquee players. Now\, however\, the Fourchestra is a decidedly indivisible band\, and Jonathan is wriLng for the trio\, not just the pans.

SUMMARY:North Indian Flute Across Traditions  with Maestro Deepak Ram
DESCRIPTION:A recital of Bansuri and Tabla\, featuring two evening ragas\, concluding with a traditional folk song. (North Indian Classical music) \nDeepak Ram is a versatile artist who is well known for his evocative performances in traditional North Indian (Hindustani) classical music\, his collaborations with musicians of other genres\, his innovative compositions and for his excellence as a teacher. \nDeepak’s first love is north Indian classical music. Indeed\, he is an accomplished soloist. He is a delightful and captivating performer\, combining technical mastery with personal charm. He has performed in the United States of America (where he is currently based)\, South Africa\, India\, United Kingdom\, Ireland\, France\, Austria\, Germany\, Lebanon\, Turkey\, Taiwan and Holland and had the honor of accompanying his teacher\, Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia\, in Geneva\, London and Paris. \nDeepak’s versatility is apparent in his numerous collaborations with musicians of various genres. These include performances with jazz pianists Darius Brubeck and Bheki Mseleku\, Tunisian oud player and vocalist Dhafer Yousseff and the popular South African band Tananas. On January 1\, 2000\, Deepak performed with South African musicians like Sibongile Khumalo and the Rwandan diva\, Cecile\, on Robben Island in South Africa’s Millennium Concert hosted by presidents Nelson Mandela and Thabo Mbeki. Deepak has 9 solo albums to his credit and as a session musician can be heard on over 60 albums. His bansuri can also be heard on movie soundtracks\, such as “The Fast And The Furious”\, “Matrix Revolutions”\, “India\, Kingdom of the Tiger”\, “Stealth” and “Before The Rains”. \nIn 2000\, Deepak was awarded Best Instrumental Album at the South African Music Awards for his album “Searching for Satyam”. His previous album “Flute for Thought” also saw him being nominated for Best Male Artist and Best Instrumental Album in the 1999 South African Music Awards. Both these albums as well as “Beauty in Diversity” feature Deepak’s compositions and arrangements based on elements of north Indian music. In 2008\, The Board of Directors of Indo-American Chamber of Commerce in California selected Deepak Ram for the 2007 Award of Outstanding Contribution to Arts and Humanities. Previous recipients of this award include Ustad Ali Akbar Khan\, Ustad Zakir Hussain and Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri. \nDeepak’s knowledge of both Indian and western traditions is evident in his compositions which range from pieces for jazz groups\, western flute quartets (flute\, violin\, viola and cello)\, choral works and ballets to orchestral pieces. His last work ‘SURYA’ for classical guitar and bansuri\, commissioned by the award-winning guitarist Mesut Özgen was premiered at the University of California\, Santa Cruz. Deepak is currently working on music for bansuri and string quartet. \n
